Pink Ribbons and Fondant

With this being Breast Cancer Awareness month I’ve been thinking pink in a major way lately, wondering what I could do to Save The Tatas. Since I’m a baker, I got together with my cake baking bestie, and came up with a small way to promote the efforts to “Save The Tatas” - we baked a boobie cake! It was fun, tasted fabulous & we spent the day thinking about how important it is to raise our awareness.

The pan we used for the boobs is actually a butt pan, funny how those two assets look interchangeable in cake form right?  lol   After the cake cooled completely we crumb coated it in a thin layer of buttercream, then we covered the girls in marshmallow fondant aka MMF, which tastes so good!  I'll take MMF over store-bought fondant anyday.  The ingredient list is minimal, and you work those arm muscles pretty good with the stirring and kneading it takes to make it.

After the MMF we used more buttercream to make the dress, which we covered in luster dust to give the "fabric" a nice shimmer.  The pink ribbon was a must, and for that I just colored a little of the remaining fondant pink and used my ribbon cookie cutter.

Stay tuned and one of these days I'll share my marshmallow fondant recipe with y'all as well as step by step instructions on how to make it.

Great Giveaway!

So this post marks the start of my brand spankin' new blog, and what better way to kick things off than with the mention of a giveaway?  Not just any give away, but a great giveaway.  The ladies over at mixology crafts are giving away a Gypsy on October 15th.  Like many of y'all crafters I've already got a Cricut which I love, so a Gypsy would be a wonderful addition to my coveted craftin goodies.

Y'all got less than two days left to enter the giveaway so get on over there to mixology to enter!
